This week RDG is very pleased to announce the launch of our new mobile friendly website. If you’re not already reading this blog on your smart phone or tablet, grab your device of choice and check it out at www.rdgfundraising.com.
It seems like only yesterday, but in fact was about four years ago, that we took the steps necessary to “upgrade” the site that we just upgraded again. I remember feeling that we were on the “cutting edge” of website technology when www.rdgfundraising.com was first launched, or at least as close to the cutting edge as an economic development fundraising and consulting firm can be. However, the fast paced changes in mobile technology and web search algorithms (whatever that means), soon made our company’s shiny new communications tool old and outdated. To continue to effectively communicate with our audience, we knew that we needed to reassess and revamp our website and overall communications strategy.
Here is my advice. Work to stay ahead of the curve. As a staff, reassess communications regularly. Ask your investors and partners if they read your communications. If not, ask your stakeholders, at all levels of investment, what mode of communication they would prefer. You may find that the communications staples of old are no longer as relevant as they once were. And, never forget the power of one-on-one communications. It is very difficult for a person to miss/ignore your message when you are sitting across the table from them.
Remember to check out our new website at www.rdgfundraising.com, and be on the look-out for social media updates to our LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter pages. And never forget what Lee Iacocca said, “You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.”
